Nam joined A Step Ahead Chattanooga in late 2020. She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science with a minor in International Studies from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee, and holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in Domestic Social and Economic Development and specializations in Management and Policy from Washington University in St. Louis.
She is a Certified Nonprofit Professional with over a decade of dedication to the nonprofit sector. Following her Peace Corps service in China, she provided case management for youth and families at risk of placement disruption in California. She later supported adults with behavioral health conditions through academic advising and re-entry into the community following inpatient or residential treatment. While in St. Louis, Nam built organizational capacity for nonprofit organizations, financial institutions, and government partners, helping enable successful neighborhood revitalization efforts.
As a Chattanooga native, Nam is thrilled to be back in her hometown. In her free time, she enjoys rollerskating, paddleboarding, and creating art.
