Rachel is the founding Executive Director of A Step Ahead Chattanooga (ASAC). She earned her B.S. in Journalism, and her career centered around writing and editing. But her passion was for women’s health, and she led the effort to establish ASAC in 2013 and was at its helm when it served its first client in September 2014. She retired in late 2019 and is delighted to serve on the ASAC board while its capable staff takes it to the next level.
Rachel was the founding chair of the Healthcare Committee of the Mayor’s Council for Women. She is a member of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga’s Scholarship Committee and the Hamilton County Health Department’s Family Planning Advisory Council. Rachel was named a 2017 Woman of Distinction and was a 2019 recipient of the Girls Inc. UnBought and UnBossed Award.
She and her husband, Henry, are both New York natives. They moved to Chattanooga in 1997 with their now adult children from Dallas, Texas. The couple welcomed their first grandchild in January 2020.
